Terms of service

Plain terms, plainly stated.

Last updated: 12 May 2026

The short version

Elie is a small product made by a small team in Delhi. By using it, you agree to a few sensible things — don’t abuse the service, don’t treat anything Elie shows you as medical advice, and understand that we’re doing our best but can’t promise zero downtime. Your data is yours and you can leave any time.

Who can use Elie

You need to be at least 18 to create an account. Elie is designed for parents and caregivers — you should never set up an account on behalf of a child to use directly.

You’re responsible for keeping your sign-in safe. Magic-link emails and Google sign-in are how you get in — if you lose access to your email or Google account, you may lose access to Elie. Use a service-side account recovery flow.

Your family, your data

Each Elie account belongs to one family. As an admin, you can invite others to join — your partner, a grandparent, a caregiver. Anyone in the family can see and add log entries. The admin can remove members at any time.

The data you put in Elie is yours. You can export it or delete it any time. See the Privacy policy for how we handle it.

What it costs

Elie is in a closed beta. The first hundred families we approve get a year of the full app, free — no card, no catch. After that year, or for families who join after the first hundred, pricing will be set before any charges happen, and we’ll give at least 30 days’ notice before billing starts.

You’ll never be billed without your explicit agreement to a price.

What Elie isn’t

Elie is not medical advice. It’s a log and a gentle pattern-spotter, not a doctor. Growth charts use the WHO standards and are useful for context, but they don’t replace your pediatrician. If anything about your baby’s health worries you, talk to a clinician — not the app.

Elie is not a monitor. We’ll send a nudge if a feed or sleep window seems long, but we’re working from what you’ve logged, not from sensors. A nudge is a friendly tap on the shoulder, not a safety alarm.

Acceptable use

Don’t use Elie to:

  • Harass, threaten, or harm anyone — including family members who share the account.
  • Try to break into accounts or data that aren’t yours, or to overload our systems.
  • Scrape, resell, or commercially redistribute Elie or any data inside it.
  • Upload anything illegal, or anything that violates someone else’s rights.

If we see this happening, we’ll close the account and delete the data.

Service availability

We aim for Elie to be available all the time. In practice, we sometimes deploy fixes, update dependencies, or have to wait for a hosting provider to recover from their own outage. We don’t promise specific uptime numbers during the beta.

If we have to do scheduled maintenance, we’ll pick a quiet hour and tell you in advance where we can.

Ending things

You can close your Elie account any time from in-app settings, or by emailing hello@elie.app. We’ll delete your data within 30 days (see Privacy).

We can also close an account if it’s used to break these terms — abuse, scraping, fraud, the things above. We’ll email you first whenever we can.

The legal small print

We provide Elie “as is” — we make our best effort, but we can’t guarantee the service is free of bugs, errors, or interruptions. To the maximum extent allowed by Indian law, we’re not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

These terms are governed by the laws of India. If a dispute can’t be resolved between us, the courts of Delhi have exclusive jurisdiction.

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under consumer-protection laws in your home country that we can’t legally waive.

Changes to these terms

We’ll email you at least 14 days before any material change to these terms. The new terms take effect on the date posted at the top of this page. If you don’t agree with a change, you can close your account before the new terms take effect.
