Your data, kept gently.
Last updated: 12 May 2026
The short version
Elie is a log for your baby’s feeds, sleep, and diapers, shared with the people who help. The data you put in belongs to you. We don’t sell it, we don’t advertise against it, and we use it only to make the app work and to talk to you about your account.
The rest of this page is a plain-English walk through exactly what we collect, who we share it with, and how to delete it.
What we collect
When you sign up and use Elie:
- You. Your name and email. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and Google profile picture from Google.
- Your baby. The name, birth date (or due date), and sex you provide. You can edit or delete this at any time.
- Your log. The entries you record — feeds, sleeps, diapers, growth measurements, notes — and who in your family logged each one.
- Voice transcripts. When you use voice logging, the audio is transcribed by your browser (Web Speech API) and the resulting text is sent to Google’s Gemini service to parse into a structured log entry. We don’t store the raw audio. The parsed entry is saved to your log.
- Push notification subscription. If you enable push, your browser gives us a subscription endpoint so we can deliver nudges. You can revoke this any time in your browser or in-app.
- Preferences. Your timezone, units (kg/ml vs lb/oz), and nudge settings.
- Technical basics. When you submit the waitlist form, we run a Cloudflare Turnstile check that sees your IP address to filter spam. We don’t store the IP.
We don’t use cookies for advertising or analytics. The only cookies Elie sets are the authentication cookies that keep you signed in.
Why we collect it
- To run the app. Show your log, sync with your family, send nudges, draw growth charts.
- To talk to you about your account. Magic-link sign-in emails, waitlist updates, account-related notices.
- To improve Elie. Aggregated, de-identified counts (e.g. “how often does voice logging fail to parse”) help us make the app better. We don’t look at individual logs.
We don’t use your data for advertising, and we never will.
Who we share it with
Elie is a small product. To run it we use a handful of trusted service providers. Each one only sees the data they need to do their job:
- Supabase — stores your account, baby, log entries, family relationships, and push subscription. Hosted on AWS.
- Google Cloud (Gemini) — receives the text of your voice transcript to parse it into a log entry. Google states it does not use your data to improve Gemini for the prompt-based API path we use.
- Google (Sign-In) — if you sign in with Google, Google sees that you signed in to Elie. Your password and Google account stay with Google.
- Resend — sends transactional emails (magic-link sign-in, waitlist updates).
- Cloudflare — Turnstile spam check on the public waitlist form. Sees the IP of the submitting browser.
- Vercel — hosts the website and serves requests. Receives standard server logs (request URL, timestamp, response code).
We don’t share your data with anyone else, and we’ll never sell it.
How long we keep it
We keep your data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days (some database backups roll over for up to 60 more days before they’re purged).
If you ask us in writing to delete a specific entry or your whole account, we’ll do it within 7 days. Email hello@elie.app.
Your rights
You can:
- See everything Elie has on you and your baby — it’s all in the app.
- Export your full log — email us and we’ll send you a JSON file.
- Edit or delete any entry, your baby’s details, or your account.
- Withdraw consent for push notifications or voice logging at any time, in-app.
If you’re in the UK, EU, or another GDPR jurisdiction, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
A note about your baby’s data
The data in Elie is almost entirely about a child, but it’s entered by you, the parent or caregiver. We treat baby data with the same care as your own: not shared, not sold, not used for ads.
Elie isn’t a service for children to use directly. You should be 18 or older to create an account.
How we keep it safe
- All traffic is over HTTPS.
- Your data is protected by row-level security in Supabase — only members of your family can see your baby’s log.
- Magic-link sign-in and Google OAuth — no passwords for you to lose.
- Service-role keys live on our server and are never exposed to your browser.
No system is perfectly secure. If we discover a breach affecting your data, we’ll email you within 72 hours of finding out, with what happened, what data was affected, and what we’re doing about it.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material, we’ll email you at least 14 days before the change takes effect, and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Small clarifications (typo fixes, tightening language) we’ll make without an announcement.
